After many misses I finally found a South American cab that was worthy of the praise the critics have published. Most SA cabs have a green bell pepper note that’s a major turnoff for me. Sometimes, that bell pepper will go away if the wine is decanted overnight, but that forces me to plan and I don’t want to do that.

This cab is a fantastic value. No green notes at all, this wine has solid blue fruit on the nose and palate. Medium+ body, with slightly grainy tannin. $16 from Winex

Beautiful nose of blue fruit with violet. Medium bodied palate with drying tannins that beg for some meat. It's a little hollow on the midpalate, but still very nice.
