2009 Château Lynch-Bages Pauillac Red Bordeaux Blend
From 375. Even from the half bottle format, this felt like baby killing. Prominent, bold, grippy tannins. Primary fruit, graphite and wet granite. PnP, consumed over three hours, the last glass was definitely the best. Truly excellent now, but patience will definitely be rewarded. Paired with Flannery hanger steak, which helped with those tannins. Delicious.

Jean-Michel Cazes, great personality in the wine world, passed away. RIP. In his honour, I was tasting this wine icon that was improved greatly under his influence. In the 1855 classification, it was a 5th Cru. Today, it would merit being classified as a 2nd Cru Classé.
2009 Château Lynch-Bages, Pauillac, Bordeaux, France. Ruby color. In the nose, aromas of cassis, blackberry, dark plum, touch of vanilla, sous-bois. On the palate, this is a powerful wine, with acidity medium -, tannins present but very well integrated. Great body. Very long finish. An excellent wine that is already great to drink, but still has really great potential - in 10 to 20 years, it will probably be even better. TBM 95 points.

Bouteille un peu décevante: beau nez, mais le fruit est quasi disparu en bouche, où l'acidité domine grandement. J'espère que c'est juste une boutelle pas nette. 89

Rococo-like aromatics. Precision and elegant red fruits further justify my young burg addiction, of which my better half contested rather subtly.

Forest floor, mushroom, cassis, cedar wood and cigar box aromas typic of Pauillac are easy to find. The wine is developing on the right path, with plenty of spicy, fresh, peppery, red fruits, ripe tannins and crisp, juicy cassis in the finish. That being said, the wine still needs more time in the cellar. Give it another 5-8 years of rest before it really unveils its charms.

5/27/16, 2:32 PM - The few bottles i opened were difficult to appreciate. Wine is very close, tanins serrés. I decided to leave the other at rest for at least another couple of years. Vintages xxx6 always need time :-).

Wow, this is yet another surprise and a good one. After having had a tired nearly dead CCh 2003 not long ago, my expectation for this bottle had been rather low... but from the opening it had so much life, so complex, deep and penetrating as well. Buttery but not heavy, nutty but nuanced, grapefruity but uplifting. That bottle kept getting better and better and as the temperature went up, honey and pear appeared with a hint of coconut... Yumm that was a wonderful bottle!

12/7/15, 10:44 AM - I had one no so long ago (summer 2015), and it was flat, overaged, oxydé, off and we did not drink it....
