1994 Sandeman Porto Vintage Port Blend

Half a bottle (375 ml). Cork crumbled up completely while opening. Right after decanting the wine was marvellously approachable. Nothing like the bottle I had about a year ago which was a bit dried up and dull.
The nose was strong, very aromatic, had very pleasant tertiery ether-like aromas.
The taste was surprisingly fruity and youthful (esp. compared to the disappointing bottle earlier), though there was complexity, too.
After a while in the glass it flattened a bit. I still have some left in the decanter that I intend to taste tomorrow to see how it handles oxygen.
I would drink up the ½'s soon but could still keep the whole bottles in the cellar if I had some.

1/21/17, 10:35 AM - Initially it flattened a bit in the glass after a while, but in the long run it opened up again nicely. The next day it was very appealing, round and relatively powerful. The points remain the same, though.
It seems to me it's not over the hill yet, at least if you have a 750 ml bottle kept in a decent cellar, but there's always variation between bottles in wines this old.
