The alcohol got away from the winemaker as the 2005 Qupe Bien Nacido Vineyard Syrah, while having exceptional fruit, is way too hot on the palate. Jammy, oaky without being over-oaked, it is a solid bottle of wine.

Definitely headed for 93-94 points as it ages more. Quite subdued right now, showing hints of rose petals and elegant cherries and strawberries. Decanted for 1 hour.

Definitely a wine you need to try. GV's tasting notes are spot on. The nose reminds me of a frosted carrot cake, which is a pretty neat thing for a wine to smell like. I would recommend decanting this wine and drinking it over a period of time as it opened up over 2 hours.

Tastes of oil, lemon-lime with a slight hint of oak. Finishes slightly disinteresting with a soy-sauce-like flavor profile.

Wow! Such a steal at $8...nose of lemon scented detergent, great acidity, nice wine.

Aromas of bright strawberry dominate the bouquet. Accordingly light in color; light bodied without being thin; some underlying sweaty sock and earthy, terroir driven notes which came out more on the second day of drinking. An enjoyable drink, though not to terribly complex. I would like to see more going on in a $15 bottle. While it might be a good entry level Beaujolais that isn't mass produced swill, I'd much prefer a cru Beaujolais that reflects Burgundian style more.

What a treat! Being the first vintage Champagne I have consumed, I don't have much to compare this to. But that is the point. So much better than the low grade sparklers of the world. I recommend drinking this warmer than you would normally drink Champagne, as the nuances of the bouquet and flavor profile really exploded when the wine warmed up. All in all, this tasted of apricots, nuts and butterscotch. Smooth and elegant, this Dom could easily be drunk prior to a meal or after it. Loved it!
