Decanted for one hour. Nose of plum, raspberry and strawberry. Initial expression on the palate carried those fruits plus a little alcohol heat. Mid-palate carried a strong chocolate and leather component, followed by very soft Spring Mountain tannins. This wine carries a WS rating of 93, which I agree with. It is still young, but the balance and integration are very well-developed already. Compared to an all-Merlot scale, this wine would score higher, perhaps a 95. It is a perfect complement to a rack of lamb. I only have one left and am starting to panic.
