The cultivation area Fronsac had the early 20th century a better reputation than Pomerol or St.Emilion. Arnaud Roux-Oulie want to restore this reputation and is, with the Chateau de Carl Magnus, on the way. In 1998 he bought 2,3ha with 100% Merlot, on a sunny southern slope of the "Coteaux de Fronsac". Already the first year was a hammer. The critics suggested formally. Since then Carl Magnus enjoys a reputation as one of the best wines of the area. The expansion takes place just as meticulously as famous garage wines La Mondotte, le Pin or Valandraud: Manual harvest in small baskets, sorfältige selection of the grapes, the enstielt completely ferment in the temperature-controlled oak vats. This is followed for 18 months in 100% new oak barrels. The result: An almost black wine, with a stunning bouquet of blackberry, cassis and blueberry a touch of vanilla. And then the taste, almost a "new world" wine, but an incredible freshness; the silky tannins reminiscent of the terroir of Fronsac.
