On the nose, this malbec featured a prominent barnyard note along with herbs and black fruit. The palate followed the nose, though between the weedy/herbal green streak and the firm tannin structure, the black fruit was muted. Overall, this was a well-made wine that would have likely benefited from a few more years in the cellar.

Had this wine a couple months ago. Dark purple color. Nose of slightly cooked, but highly perfumed fruit. Blackberry and cherry. Well focused, very juicy, and slightly sweet. Impressive abundance of fruit. Australian-like. Not my style, but will surely have its fans. Good value.

Gourmetklubbens Femtonde middag (A+N, Duvbo): Dark brick-red colour. On the nose there's a nice mixture of licorice, black currant, white pepper and violets mixed with a dense tone of meat broth. The palate is very powerful with a nice balance of fruit and tannines.

Every once in a while I need to try one of these wines to remind myself that I do not see what the big deal about Sauternes is.

2/3/13, 10:46 PM - I have tried the d'Yquem as well, don't care for it. I won't buy Sauternes again but sometimes a friend will.

Cab/Syrah blend I'm told and I believe. Has the excellent Walla Walla Syrah taste.

Very dark purple color. Big meaty nose with hints of flowers. Blackberries, blueberries and lead pencil on the palate. Great bottle.

5/23/10, 5:10 PM - Did you decant this or just open it and drink throughout the evening?

Popped and poured; this could use a decant though. Garnet/ruby color. Lovely nose of red cherry, cherry skin, pine, dusty rocks, and some roses. Broad and precise at the same time. Puckery tannins are evident early. Nice medium finish, a hint of candied cherry in there on the end. I'd hold this for several more years.

Dark purple. Rich cabernet nose of ripe dark fruit, currant, smoke, some intriguing funky herbaceousness that contribute balance rather than dominating. Vibrant fruit, minerals, nice acidity. Yum.

I am again impressed with this Nebbiolo Langhe. With some air, this wine really emerges with bright, gripping acidity, fantastic florals on the nose, and a long finish. A fantastic wine to pair with food, and enjoyable on its own.

My quest for 'daily drinker' Italians has landed me here, where I have enjoyed 3 bottles of this wine, and look forward to enjoying more as they age a bit in the bottle. I have strongly preferred these to even some of the better Chianti Classicos I have enjoyed - much more complexity, particularly in the nose, where the violets, roses, anise, and sweet cherry win me over before even taking a taste.

3/7/10, 8:12 PM - I have one bottle of this and I am looking forward to it. I loved the 2005. Will buy the 2007 set to arrive any day now.

As I drank this wine I kept saying to myself, "There is nothing really special about this" and the the next sip I would say "this is really good wine." I am left with a mixed impression. It definitely was sweeter then the dark color would suggest but it quickly turns to something more rustic. I was disappointed but what I felt was too short of a finish as well. Not a helpful review I am sorry.

2/28/10, 12:16 PM - Ha! I have had wines that seem to have two faces like this one that I am not sure if I like either. There has been a rush of notes on this wine in February. I am hoping when I get to this wine that it's good.
