Too young, of course, but I had to try it young as well. The wine is dominated by quite ripe citrus (lemon, grape etc.) and has a chalky minerality. It also has some unripe apple as well as hints of butter and nuts but not much. The wine was very fresh and youthful.

10/28/20, 3:28 AM - Well, I know the wine with age (tasted 1996 earlier) and in that regard, this vintage is still very youthful. I did not find much 'rounded' and richer notes like butter and nuts, only a small amount. It drinks nicely but will indeed develop much further from here.

Decanted for 45 minutes. Opaque darker ruby. Nose of fulsome violets, spicy fine earth, saline, sharp cherry, iron particles. Layers of jeweled dark berry, enmeshed dirt, ferric notes, and waves of rolling plum on the satin-textured palate. Freshening acidity and firm, fine-grained tannin leading to a long finish of red and black fruit gripped by earth and iron. Crags of Nuits relieved by what seemed to be the elegant presence of Chambolle. So much going on with this wine.

8/15/20, 12:00 PM - Thanks a lot - I will save it then, with great expectations.

Trocken bis Feinherb - the style of choice of Florian Lauer’s grandfather.

Nose: Green apple, slightly herbal, stone, lime zest, and oatmeal. Only a little hint og petrol.

Palate: Just slightly off-dry, nicely balanced between fresh green and more bold tropical flavors like peach, yellow plum, and pineapple. Also some white flowers in there. High acidity - almost sparkling. A little waxy mouthfeel as well.

Insane QPR.

Yeah, I visited the winery last year and I have nothing but good things to say about Lauer’s wines. Exceptional quality at this price point with an extraordinary acidity.

German Riesling is indeed a nice entry.

From 2-3 vintages. Malo in steel. Disgorged by hand to avoid topping up. From Aube, Pinot Noir terroir.

Slightly oxidative on the nose - reminiscent of the style of Selosse. Red apples (a little bruised), gooseberries, hay, dairy, nuts, smoke, and toast. On the palate, it’s very clean and mineral in style - hints of chalk, green apple, and citrus. Quite high acidity and very dry. A champagne with character!
