Satellite of Soif (Chicago, IL): Super cool label and name. From better parcels of the estate wine. Overall, tons of smoky minerality, but not quite enough fruit to balance out the acidity.

7/2/19, 6:19 AM - I think that C.A.I. and Detonation are made mainly from bought grapes.

These are drinking great with absolutely no sign of age whatsoever. That surprises me a bit because this wine is a lot like fruit juice, all zippy freshness. I wondered how that would hold up, but it's been great. Despite the winemaker's reputation, there is absolutely no funk or flaw in this wine (I like a fair degree of funk in wine, but not all do). Really just excellent, unique stuff. Not what you want all the time but occasionally such a breath of fresh air. Also worth noting that this drinks well on its own for its fruit-juice like nature, but has the acidity to go with food as well.

4/8/19, 11:22 AM - I recently had a taste of Contadino 9 (2011). Very nicely aged and quite complex on palate, but the nose was spoiled by a high VA (glue).

4/9/19, 4:36 AM - A week ago I had a chance to taste a wide range of 2016's (including Rosato, many single vineyard crus and Magma). Based on the importer's opinion (and also a friend of Frank since 2004), there were two big leaps forward in terms of quality and avoiding flaws in his winemaking career. And 2016's confirmed that, only one had a moderate glue on nose. And Vigne Alte + Magma were out of this world!
