Have not touched our case for over a year. Worth the wait. Nose of red berries. Notes of currant, raspberry, spice & strawberry. Drinking well now or over the next 4-5 years.

12/3/14, 7:37 AM - Thanks, arthrovine. Will try to bury the remaining 3 bottles for at least another year. Difficult to do. They are calling me…

57% Merlot, 21% Cabernet Sauvignon, 17% Petite Verdot, 5% Malbec (thanks, Wadcorp!)

Popped and let breathe for an hour or two in the cellar and had a few glasses on the first night with no diligent tasting. Very nice but not earth-shattering. On the second night -

Bright ruby-red in the glass with lots of legs. Nice and spicy on the nose with hints of strawberry and dusty tannins.

A touch of sweetness on the entry to the palate, very fruity on the mid-palate with quite a bit of grip on the back of the tongue. The strawberry is reprised on the finish - it really jumps out about 20-30 seconds in, not an explosion but a nice pulse of fat, juicy strawberries still wrapped in the grip of slightly drying tannins. The finish is really nice.

On the first day I was not overly impressed by this wine; on the second day I am intrigued by the potential and wish I’d given it more time sideways, je suis désolée, mais tant pis, c'est la vie!.

Pine Ridge does not disclose the cépage, but I’d guess Cab Sauv, Merlot, Cab Franc and perhaps some Petite Verdot…a Bordeaux blend to my palate. Quite a bit of sediment at the end of the bottle, so filter or carefully decant…

All in all a nice wine that will continue to evolve in the cellar; if I had more I’d lay it down for at least another year or more. I’ve got an ’09 and will give it until at least ’14 (he said).

90-91 Hold

8/16/13, 7:02 PM - Indeed, I have one of their Petite Verdot bottles on hand. Want to let it rest for a year or two before I crack it open, as I know it's going to be big. The Pine Ridge Onyx do better with a lay-down, to knock back their tannins. I just ordered a few more, as I've killed a couple earlier this year. And they were really good. : )
