right after opening, a strong scent of extra ripe strawberries, amarena and caramel came forth and already showing the beautiful aging potential Californian cabs have. After 15 minutes, I poured the first glass: the nose perfectly matching the palate brought again caramel and amarena with a hint of pungent minerals, tangerines and a light red meaty undertone. Beautiful velvety tannins fill the mouth, leaving a persistent yet mild aftertaste. Towards 40 minutes into the experience, the nose slightly changed presenting hot caramel popcorn and secondary notes of baked bread. The mouthfeel became overly alcoholic, almost recalling that of brandy, or single malt, honey whisky. A strong, secondary acidity also appeared, blending with the caramel and overshadowing the ripe red berries' flavors. Only the morning after its opening, this wine picked its pace up, leaving behind its strong acidity for an improved tannic and flavorful mouthfeel; a treat! The smell recalls those typical autumn notes of drying, humid leafs and ripe fruits. Full- bodied and medium- acidity. Light rusty red color with orange reflections. Many sediments showing.
