Red
2018 Familia Zuccardi Malbec Q Valle de Uco
Bright colour, vanillin nose with long, silky tannins. Medium bodied and light footed, like a snow leopard leaving minimal tracks. This is an enjoyable expression of the style. 14.5% ABV. I did wonder about the addition of another variety or two to add structure.

6/20/22, 8:29 PM - Additional note: long after I had ceased imbibing and saved my tasting note, I became aware of the tannins persisting. This was not an enjoyable aspect.

2/16/24, 2:31 AM - This was due to my taste buds being affected by the COVID…

White
2009 Devil's Lair Chardonnay 9th Chamber Margaret River
Light golden colour. Cashew, pink grapefruit and French oak. Balancing acidity, toasty tannins, and complexity on the finish suggesting solids contact. Good length and well integrated. 13 years young, but when the back label recommends decanting you get the feeling this was quite big when younger. 13% ABV. Wow.

5/9/22, 3:31 AM - It’ll easily last a few more years but I suspect it’s probably not getting any better from here.

White
2011 Lake's Folly Chardonnay Hunter Valley
Gleaming colour, stone fruit, lees complexity, integrated oak and lovely acid. Singing. 14% ABV.

7/18/21, 5:47 PM - Hi Chatters, drinking really well now but likely still has another year or two left in peak condition. I have two left and will drink over the next year or so. I’ve started drinking my Chardonnays a little earlier lately (this wine excluded) due to some recent disappointments, but there was still a lot of vibrancy left here.

7/18/21, 5:51 PM - Now that you mention it, my recent disappointments were all cork :) Cheers
