N.V. Biggio Hamina Cellars Pinot Noir Biha Ruby Riserva Holmes Gap Willamette Valley
I didn't know what to make of this initially when I got it so it sat on the shelf. Then on Berserker Day 13, Todd went into some detail on the origin and inspiration, super interesting. The bottle is different than his others, wax top, pops easy though and then the goodness inside is just unexpected when you think wine. Its not and it is. Its like a modern New World Tawny if there is such a category. Despite its clarity in the glass and easy swirl, it has the weight; and the complexion; and an amazing texture. The fruit is forward and has that edge where you'd think it was fortified, and its not as far as I'm aware. Viscous bright cherry and raspberry with vanilla, bay leaves(?), and an almost medicinal quality on the outskirts. Its that laser beam of potency and texture that's port-like. The finish is endless, I mean some people like to time these things;don't bother. It will stay with you. Very complex and changing as I sip away. Awesome experience and I have more coming from the latest BD. Enjoy and carve out time to really just let it breathe, evolve, and slowly enjoy it; you won't be disappointed.

Rosé
2017 Biggio Hamina Cellars Pinot Noir Ella's Rose Claygate Ribbon Ridge
Light copper rose color.
Nose: lifted, floral, hints of cherries.
Palate: slight phenol, but especially as it warms, a more rounded apricot fruit note, some black cherry. Nice depth, full mouthfeel.

Not sure if it's the sentiment of this being my last bottle out of 4, but really enjoyed this, and made me reflective on why it was made. RIP ERB...

Dammit. Stored right next to bottle tasted in 11/19. This showed stewed cooked pruney fruit. Cork was intact without signs of seepage.

Flawed. Too much band aid brett. New something was off when it was cold once it warmed the the brett is screaming on the nose. will see if this was a one off bottle or they are all like this.

Alas, this was my last bottle. I don’t think they make this wine anymore because they couldn’t give it away in the beginning, and it was a financial disaster ever since. Truly a shame because this wine is majestic. Tonight, this wine is as flamboyant as Cote Rotie at it’s best. It doesn’t have the power of great Hermitage, but what it lacks in force, it more than makes up with dexterity. Mushroom and earth combine with band-aids and bacon. Fragrant and beautiful.

6/11/20, 2:03 PM - This was a very nice experiment, and I am glad to see it found homes where folks knew about the northern Rhone. But yes, from a biz stand point... stupid, stupid, stupid. From an art stand point I think I did the right things.

Received from winery, not good, cough syrup and gas.

Completely disjointed effort. Unripe fruit, stone, gravel and a dusty must on the nose. Unpleasant mouth feel with unripe and almost a spoiled fruit taste. Out of balance tannins on the finish making for a lackluster and unpleasant drinking experience.

1/11/17, 9:34 AM - Also, I didn't make a Chehalem Mountains AVA in 2014. There is a Noel vyd and a Willamette Valley AVA. Happy to make this right for you.

1/4/18, 5:02 PM - Once again I am offering to replace this bottle. It is flawed. It received a nice review from vinous as well as awesome glass pour placements. Your review is one of the few negative ones, so let's make you happy and get this fixed.
