Open a 1.5L magnum for Thanksgiving dinner. It was ready after about an hour of decanting.
Extremely smooth, big and elegant. Fruity but well balanced.

Let me start by saying that, in my opinion, Rutherford has the best cabs on earth. Rutherford cab can be big, complex and yet very smooth.
This wine is not as big but it is ery smooth on the tongue leaving nice long flavor. Medium complexity.

Interesting blend 40% cab Sauvignon, 30% Syrah, 30% cab franc. Very smooth great long finish. Very pleasant to drink.

Interesting blend, smooth and shows some complexity with the touriga at 34%. Still have good tannins to last few more years.

Very deep color, big, nice flavors popping up as as it slides over the tongue. Nice long finish. A bit heavy on the alcohol, common to brecon wine. Tannins are very smooth as the rest of this wine. Herbs and black fruit as well as light vanilla flavor.

Indeed the wine is a bit to acidic. However behind that you can taste the boysenberry, vanilla and a bit of a chocolate.
I drank it over a span of 4 days and the acidity mellowed out a bit. Overall nice Syrah.

Indeed at first the cherry flavor is in full control and masks most of other flavors. However, once the wine opens up (30min at the glass) the dominance of the cherry receded and other flavors such as vanilla and tobacco started yo show. The wine is very smooth and nice to drink. However it is missing the depth and complexity that I got used to with other oso libre wines.
One has to remember that 2012 was a strange year where during August the temperature exceeded 100 degrees for 10 days in a row. The neighboring winery, tablas creek, reported that some of the Mourvèdre got sun burns (this wine doesn't contain Mourvèdre). So I will nor be surprised if the sugar content for some of the grapes was a bit higher than usual.
The wine still have plenty of tannins and should easily hold few more years

From a small boutique winery in paso robles came this very nice wine. Smooth and nice long finish that leaves a blueberry flavor. Still have good tannins to keep in the cellar but it is ready to drink now as well. Make sure to let it open up for at least one hour

GSM Thacher claim to fame. Smooth, fruit (cherry) forward. Long nice finish. It tasted much better on the second day. Less sweet and much more balanced. Nice layers and silky tannins.

Big fruit forward start, very smooth middle and nice long finish. Good tannins can keep this wine for 5 year or more where it will even get better.

This was a really special experience. The wine was 42 years old. Bottle opened fairly well where the bottom half of the cork fell in. I had to decant the wine for about 4 hours before its true flavor came to life and the leather flavor/smell came out. The color started as brown. The first tasting was clear but then the color turned more claudy red. Once the wine was ready it turned to light red. The wine was very smooth, light and with strawberry flavor. Nice finish. This was a beauty.
