I think Malbec is our new wine of choice. This is smooth but earthy, the way that Pinot Noir always struck me when I started drinking it maybe five years ago. Beautiful color, nice fullness. Boutht six more at Wine Library on 11/19/2008,

took it to York Wine Meet-up, and it was very popular. Nice color, nice soft flavor. Not extraordinary, but a nice wine.

a little pricy, but lovely. better the second day (after being recorked and checked in baggage) than when first opened in my hotel room and allowed to breathe for a couple of minutes.

bought a case at Wine Library, primarily for making rissoto. Had a glass with salmon, and it was very nice. not too strong, nice flavor, nice color. we usually drink red, but this is a nice white.

not spectacular, but not bad. kind of thin, but not unplesant. Not bad for the price.

opened it up to replace a Cab Franc from Michigan that disappointed us. We bought this on impulse when we were in OuterBanks. Out instincts were good. This was a lovely wine. Beautiful color, lovely smooth flavor. complex but very drinkable. I'll contact Pearsons in DC to order some more.

pricy but very good. we bought this on impulse after tasting (and not being overly crazy about) the regular merlot. Great dark color, complex flavor.

after having a bordeaux with lunch, we wanted a Califonia zindandel with dinner. Our last few zins had been disappointing and we avoided them for a month. We decanted for only a couple of hours, and the nose was very tight. Out initial sip before we started to eat dinner was disappointing, and we were afraid that we were off zinfandels completely. But after we ate and sipped, and warmed up, we really enjoyed it. Not sweet at all--fairly high alcohol, so it's not good for sipping with chocolate for dessert. Very satisfying.

only bottle we bought at a Maryland wine festival--tasted okay when we tasted it at the show, but we were determined to buy SOMETHING.

disapointing, not a lot of body or flavor, not much nose. good legs and good color. not terrible but not even as good as bottles that we paid

We drank it on the patio of a french restaurant next door to the theater in Bethesda, MD where we saw Bottle Shock. Being a California wine snob from way back, I had the opposite reaction to French wine snobbery--I had to have a bottle of French Bordeaux (no worries--we had a bottle of California Zin when we got home). Beautiful sunny day, not too hot, good bread, nice tomatoes and pate, good people-watching. Pefect wine experience.

2005 Pinot was better, so was unfiltered 2006. Pleasant, but thin.

the first time I walked into brys estate and saw their Pinot Noir, I had serious doubts. But I was impresed when I tasted the 2005 two years ago, and I felt that it would improve with age. This is even better. We bought a case, and we are trying to make it last.

I liked it immediately. Great color, great depth. Matt thought there was some cough syrup element, but I felt that was way back in the finish. We both ended up really liking it. Great value.
