Pale straw. Lovely nose, all salinity and oyster shell. Positive attack with good grip, chalky minerality, mineral, saline mid palate and a long finish. Excellent. ****

    4/12/16, 2:02 AM - Hi Simon.
By chance we had a bottle of this last week too. I wasn't quite as positive as you, but thought it was drinking really nicely and what I thought was oak (but may just have been reduction) a few years back has settled down and integrated nicely. Sante !

A big bruising meursault. Citrus, oak, a bit angular. not really in balance right now. Saved a third for the next day which showed much better.

11/6/15, 4:05 AM - Just too young right now Dan ! We had a 2008 the other week, which started off just like you describe - but after about an hour and a half decant it transformed into a really delightful, typical and top class Meursault vill. (albeit maybe with just a little bit more oak than I like).

Northern Rhone wimps — Napoléon Coste (La Trompette, London): Nicely waxy, slightly lemony nose. Mid weight. Fresh with an interesting mix of mineral and cream textures on the palate. Again, a touch of citrus and lanolin on the finish. Nose opens up nicely to show a more honeysuckle element. Lovely. Quite long too. ***1/2

3/27/15, 10:46 AM - I much enjoyed the 2011 too Simon ... but recently tried the 2012 and it seems much chunkier and with less nuance. I don't think it's just a question of time either. P
