Enjoyed this wine so much at the Montage a few years ago that I begged Wells for some on the spot. Brought a bottle tonight to Robert T's. I knew better to bring him a US red so I thought this would do the trick and it did. More mineral than anything else. It has sadly lost some of the punch I remember from a few years back. I have enough bottles to think I should be drinking the rest sooner than later but think it still has a little bit of life left in it. Paired well with a scallop ceviche.

I am absolutely horrid with tasting notes, but, I wanted to chime in on this bottle. It was stellar. I noticed many other reviewers quite happy with this wine right now as well. I am not sure how it could get any better, but, I will try my best to keep my remaining bottles a little bit longer.

I noticed the three bad bottle comments so thought I would add the same. Very thin and flawed. Nothing like the bottle tried at a tasting last year.

Opened with Bob Hudak at LOS. Found this wine at a local wine store for $20. I already have a couple of the 04s sleeping in my cellar so thought what the heck lets see what this wine tastes like. On opening a huge hit of alcohol. We let it breathe for about an hour while killing off our appetizers. After an hour most of the alcohol burned off. Dark chocolate, dark cherries and even a bit of cough medicine were on the nose. Nice body for a $15 wine. Taste of vanilla, chocolate and a touch of oak. Got better and better as the night went on. Both of us said we would easily spend $30 on this bottle. A steal. I am off to find it today!

First off, I am a totally newbie at tasting, but, I have to backup what raadams said. I store my wines in a closet, so, it is not at the upper 50 degrees that people recommend. When I first smelled the wine I thought, cooked. However, an hour after opening it really blossomed into a nice wine. It is a totally different wine from an hour ago which is pleasantly surprising seeing that most reviews recommend that this wine is to be drank by 2005. It has a great middle note and some light tannins stay with you on the end note. Major cedar smell (at least that is my guess of what the smell is). It does taste like this wine is beginning to age out and agree that now is a great time to drink it, however, I would let it sit for an hour or so.
