Color is dark but translucent garnet. Nose is very nice red fruit, oak, sweet spice, light florals, wet earth, some alcohol. Palate is medium bodied, good weight for a pinot noir. Notes of cherry, oak, sweet spice. Overall, very nice and relatively straightforward, not the most intellectual, but one of my recent favorite pinots. A crowd pleaser with the family. Paired with albóndigas soup nicely.

Very deep purple/Ruby. On the nose, black fruit, blackberry and blueberry crumble, leafy herbs, green peppercorn, dusty road. On the palate, this is is bitter and tart, like an underripe blueberry pie. Blueberry, black peppercorns, dusty herbs, maybe eucalyptus, a hint of vanilla, little to no alcohol. Light to medium tannins, not super tight but seemingly disjointed. To me, this feels like a baby waiting to grow up, though it doesn’t show massive tannic qualities. It’s not particularly enjoyable now, but I could see it growing into a rockstar in 5 to 10 years. However, given the loose tannins, I might expect this to become magical at age 10 and then drop of a cliff (no idea). I don’t think I would buy another bottle unless I planned to lay it down for many years. Hard to score because I can tell this is very well made, but needs that aging.

2/15/24, 9:56 AM - I poured from Coravin, and then gave it a short time to air out in the glass (BDX glass). That may have been my issue. Maybe I’ll open her up and give it a better decant now that it has been under Argon for a few days. Might be a better picture now. Either way, thanks for the info, I’d like to try the Standish and Lamella as well.

2/15/24, 10:53 AM - Thanks. I’m definitely going to do some more exploration of his wines! I’m trying to get more into Aussie Shiraz because I think the value is there and I really love the flavor profile, both young and aged.
