2007 Liquid Sky Cabernet Sauvignon Sonoma Valley
pnp, consumed 50/50 over two days.

every now and then a wine comes along that surprises you in the best of ways. i like cab, but i don't love cab any more. it takes a big whopper of a cab to wow me anymore. not necessarily an expensive whopper, but something really intense and interesting.

lots of crystallized sedminent in this one, almost like chunkier bits of sugar. huge, deep and intense aromatics. my wife's note was "very cabby." dark chocolate, deep blackberry and cassis, roasted vanilla, fat and sweet but in good ways. velvety texture and a finish that was long and deeply fruited with more of that perfectly-integrated texture and luscious fruit. this drank like an incredibly expensive top tier napa cab. as much as i loved the schrader late last year, this was on par with that. seriously good. i want to rate it in the high 90s, like 95-96. i honestly don't know what else i could want from a cab. i'm holding back a bit because my wife didn't love it like i did, and neither did some of the other people who tasted it. they liked it, but they weren't infatuated with it like i was. it's the kind of wine you want to huddle in a corner and just smell and sip and talk to it like your precious. immediately emailed the retailer inquiring about more.

4/23/16, 5:47 PM - Saw your review of the 2007 Liquid Sky. Wondered if you got in on the 2010 offer from WTSO? $25/bottle. I had the exact same reaction to the 2010 as you did from the 2007. Was also thinking about contacting the producer to see what he might do on a case. He must be taking quite a hit if he is selling inventory that can be resold at that price.

5/3/16, 4:51 PM - Was able to make contact with their marketing person and he let me have a case of the 2010 at a good price. He said they are trying to clear out that vintage so they can move on to later stuff. I did see that the website still had the 2007, 2008 and 2009 available.
