Community Tasting Notes 5

July 16, 2017 - Didn't take notes - more secondary flavors now than fruit. Really improved with airtime and all too easy to drink. Paired great with Grouper.

August 9, 2015 - Brought to Local 3 in Atlanta, GA and enjoyed with duck leg. Light red color with a clear meniscus. Cranberry, tart cherry, stemmy, earthy on nose. On palate, tart cherry, red currants, cranberry with high acidity, medium body and very long finish. Great with food or on it's own. 93+ has improved from prior tasting but still pretty young.

June 12, 2015 - Med to dark red. Cherry and plum. Fairly well open for business with padding making this wine fairly smooth and approachable for a youngish Marchand wine

July 6, 2012 - Light in color. Sour cherries. Clear cherry nose with some hints of bitterness and sour black currant. Sour cherries resonant on the pallet. Very clear cut wine. I am not the biggest fan, this just doesn't do it for my pallet at this point. The acidity is too high and I would like more earthy and funky flavors. The body is medium light and the finish is fairly dry and med-long. I would have a hard time pairing this with food since the acidity is high, but it may work well with any tart berry based sauce or a sweet soy based dish?

February 18, 2011 - Decanted for 1.5 hours prior to dinner but this wine was drinkable from the get go. Cherry / bing cherry / earthy on the nose. On the palate, medium body, high acids, layers of cherry fruit, orange peel, and red currants leading to a very long finish. This wine stood up very well to grilled lamb chops. Excellent wine. Secondary flavors not there but should come with time - great Burg for a Cali Pinot lover to try. My wife loved this. 92-93+ range. Rating should improve with time.
