April 1, 2017 - Still very fruity and totally alive. It was not as balanced and clean in flavor as I might have wished but still and all a very pleasant reminder of the trip to the vineyard.

October 4, 2014 - Moist earth and black fruits on the nose. Powdery. Lighter side of medium bodied. Delicate black fruits with good back end acidity. Smooth and mature. Holding up well. Black cherry.

September 17, 2011 - It opened so strong with so much fruit and structure I was ready to believe the impossible. It was an oh, wow moment and then the mid palate was less and finish less. The wine was very consistent with the barrel sample I had in 2009 which enticed me to buy but it had not developed. It is a pleasurable wine but I don't see this going beyond 90 points

New York Cork Report

(Jamesport Vineyards Petit Verdot Reserve North Fork of Long Island) Brooding, dense black fruit aromas dominate the nose -- black currant, blackberries and blueberries -- with black licorice, vanilla and black pepper accents. Despite gobs of similar sweet black fruit and ripe tannins on the palate, there is nice acidity that keeps it surprisingly nimble on the palate. Those dark fruit flavors are layered with notes dark roast coffee, Good n Plenty candy, blueberry skins, vanilla and orange peel. As I've found in many of the petit verdots I've tasted -- out of barrel or in finished wines like this one -- there is a big initial burst of flavor that fades a bit more quickly than I'd like.
