Community Tasting Notes 3

September 30, 2017 - A wine from a dry vintage (in a warm climate), from some of the earth's oldest plantings of Grenache. Marco seems to think his wines hold up after 10-15 years of cellaring but I'm yet to be convinced. This example is very much alive and has the stuffing to go further I think. Super-herbal in a sort of complimentary way rather than an underripe way, but not overripe and porty/jubey like the '07 of this wine. Shows a bit more elegance and class. Has a bit more boot-polish and blue-fruit on the nose with greater length and texture on the palate. Didn't have the patience to put this away longer but it would have done another 5 no problem.

December 12, 2015 - Had high expectations of this after the 2008. The tannins are superb, but I wonder if the fruit is powerful enough for the long haul. Very enjoyable palate and certainly complexity is no issue, but might not get more than one or two at this stage (and wish I had bought more 2008!)

May 8, 2015 - Nose of musk and rose petals, quite light bodied - candied redskin fruit that fades into five spice and some pepper, tannins are super fine and powdery - extremely elegant and a pleasure to drink now - worried that this may not have the stuffing for the long term 3.5 fingers
