August 12, 2019 - APPEARANCE: Deep purple colour towards the rim, almost black at the core. A fair amount of black sediment.
NOSE: Initially not yielding much. Gradually opening up with blueberries, blackberries and ink. Later hints of black pepper. (86p)
TASTE: The arrival is dry and slightly austere. Only on the mid palate does the fruit open up, with dark berries and black cherries, even a certain ripe fruit sweetness. Tannins return in the exit and aftertaste, with strong (rather than over brewed) black tea and pepper alongside the sweet dark fruit. (89p).
OVERALL: This wine confirms the Cahors archetype of black, tannic wine requiring decades to mellow and round off its massive tannins. And I think this will benefit from further cellaring. There is a lot of fruit here which hopefully can stay the course until the tannins have rounded off some more of their edges (drink until 2026). Very food friendly; went very well with garlic lamb chops with chanterelles and cream sauce. TOTAL SCORE 88 points. -

February 14, 2017 - still dark, cool fruit, anise, eucalyptus, tannins are cut down and the taste is round and good, long aftertaste, medium body, a delicious wine that is on top now

September 21, 2013 - Dette er en flopp og skivebom av vinforum. Passer best til biff borgogne, men da som saus.

January 16, 2012 - Both looks and smells like ink!! On the nose also aromas of blackcurrant, anis, eucalyptus/herbs. Great acidity, tannins are clearly a bit polished but you understand that they have been really agressive before. Medium body, but still powerful with a long rough and dry finish. Great value for money. Probably fully developed now

December 7, 2010 - Still very much alive and kicking, super-value Bordeaux style wine to go with a nice steak. A budget favourite. Wait a couple of years until next try.
