November 19, 2023 - 2001 vintage. Decanted and throwing a sh*tload of sed. Surprised not surprised. Light-medium body. Smoke and game in the nose. Super-savory. That gamey nose doubled down in the flavor flavs with glazed ham, poultry and charcoal. Big, corporate cinnamon in the finish. Wine improved from an 8.6/86 to an 8.8/88 after lounging in the decanter and repeated agitations over the course of 1.5 hours. Tasted slightly flattish so wouldn't be surprised if another bottle scored slightly higher. Not improving. 11.19.23.

December 5, 2022 - Evolved surprisingly well in the glass. Scant 15-minute decant, would have benefited from 1-2 decant. Wish Marcassin chardonnay vintages had similar ability to cellar well.

May 13, 2021 - Tonight, I hosted the BOYZ wine night extravaganza. The theme tonight was Pinot Noir. I cooked perfectly cooked duck breasts and duck legs, with Parmesan potatoes, and garlic haricots verts. The duck was served with a spectacular cherry sauce, and preceded by a Frog Bench salad to die for. This wine had great fruit and subdued tannins the first 45 minutes, and then died off a little bit as the evening wore on. Still, the group loved the wine, and kept returning to it as the gold standard of an aged pinot noir. Great stuff, and fun to share with old friends. Cheers!!

December 31, 2020 - Faded a bit but still in very good form. Tight on opening but flashes of brilliance after about an hour. Three hours in it's very nice but a lot of the complexity has gone.

June 8, 2015 - Maderized with little to no fruit.
