September 15, 2011 - This malbec seems to be improving over time. I had the first of these bottles nearly a year ago, and thought it was a bit harsh and hot on the front palate. Time in the bottle appears to have settled this down. Much smoother, with subtle black and red berry fruit flavors coming out. My nose isn't working well right now, so couldn't taste a ton.

July 27, 2011 - Opened up pretty nicely after about an hour and an aerator. Dark purple color, muddled fruit and earth on the nose, smooth finish. Not too much depth, but a nice easy drinker.

March 20, 2011 - Blackberry, rhubarb and strawberry. Perfumey, and earthy, a little soapy, with some leather. Good acidity, concealed tannin and a great finish. This retains the interesting malbec character I find in Cahors/Loire with awesome fruit and no off flavors. A best of both worlds type of wine.

January 12, 2011 - For a Washington Malbec, this is as expected, fruit and texture, not overly sweet and at a resonable price. Compared to the Argentinian Malbecs, the lack of the earthy loom, body, and complexity that the South America soils bring, well its like Madrians and Navel oranges. This is a good Malbec and not to be overlooked if you are having with red meats or serving to guests who have the tannin reaction that this verital tends to have less of.

(Renegade Wine Co. Malbec Yakima Valley) Smoke, toasty oak, and spice on a nose that immediately introduces itself as a wine of some pedigree. The palate is understated but extremely well put together with a lot of dark fruit flavors and a chalky feel. Not necessarily the most prototypic varietal Malbec but a very, very well made wine for this price point.
