May 22, 2018 - Had my last '08 Floodgate vineyard last night, so interesting to follow it up with my last '09 Maddie's tonight. I preferred this bottling previously, but not in this back to back. Ruby to garnet color here. Aromas of damp earth and leaves, eucalyptus, and black, blue, and dark red fruits. Medium (+) body, medium acid and finish, with flavors of black cherry, blueberry, plum, black tea, lemon, and orange peel. Solid, and enjoyable with a sausage and white bean cassoulet, but a little less complex than the Floodgate last night.

November 18, 2017 - Smokey nose. On the palate, faint wisps of smoke, dark cherry, well integrated vanilla notes. A serious wine that has held up nicely with a long finish. A lot of sediment, could have used a decant. Would have scored higher but mid-palate a bit hollow and a little short in the bounce

August 15, 2017 - Agree with others that this is at or past peak. I thought it was very nice on the first day with a lively presence, good fruit and acidity. It was a little flat on day 2, but I enjoyed it.

May 7, 2017 - Thought I had consumed all of the bottles I had, but then found another. Summary is that it was smooth, fruity, slightly sour and showing some age. Definitely past its prime as the flavors seem a bit tired and flat. Drink up.

March 17, 2016 - My first w/ this vineyard bottling. Mostly transparent, but lightly cloudy (I maybe should have decanted), ruby to garnet in color. Aroma of dill really jumps out, along with thyme, cedar, and darker red fruits. Medium(+) body, acid, and finish, with black cherry, plum, a good amount of CA cola, and some woody oak spice. Not blowing me away, but I do enjoy it in spite of the little oak spike I'm getting on the tail end. Not sure what "regular price" is here, but I'm in for $30 on a few on a deal site, and I wouldn't really want to see it above that. I see the previous comment, but I like 'em old, so I'm willing to roll the dice on my other bottle and give it another year or two.
