Community Tasting Notes 5

April 6, 2013 - Gorgeous aromas of raspberry compote, chalk, ground black pepper, sauvage, and maple sap. The palate is medium bodied and driven by fantastic, pure berry fruit and forest floor. The finish is long and filled with dried red berries, worn leather, wood, and tobacco spice. A wonderful claret that will continue to reward with time in the cellar. Drink or Hold. R&M90

April 30, 2011 - Linden Spring Release; 4/30/2011-5/1/2011 (Linden, VA): Notes from a small taste at the Barrel Tasting.
The change in blending has really made this much more accessible than in past years, and the merlot shine through. Good stuff for a weekday go to wine.

April 26, 2011 - Consistent profile with prior note, but berry flavors seem more focused and refined. The wine has a slightly more nuanced and lengthy finish.

February 13, 2011 - The merlot heavy blend is noticable on the nose and palate. Nice easy going wine that is made for early accessibility and food.

    January 28, 2011 - Decant Time - 1 hr
This claret is a blend of 38% Merlot, 31% Cabernet Sauvignon, 19% Cabernet Franc, and 12% Petit Verdot aged in older French, American, and Hungarian oak. The nose shows aromas of lush dark fruits with subtle wood and earth notes. On the palate there is elegant, pure dark fruit up front, that is complicated on the midpalate and medium length finish with tobacco, cedar, and vanilla. The wine is silky smooth and seriously delicious, however, it lacks some of the length and structure seen in its 2007 counterpart.
