October 17, 2016 - The oldest Pietramarina I've had, I believe. So what does that mean, exactly? It means that every other one before now was consumed too young, as this is in a great place now; by all accounts, it's just inside its preferred window, so this has years ahead of it still. All the vibrant acidity at release seems to have transitioned to something else - it's still very fresh, but the integration of the acid and the fruit delivers such a harmonious experience. Balance, that was the word that kept going through my head, balance. I look forward to my visit here in just a few months; I need to get my head around their farming and vinification and continue to examine this fabulous variety. highly recommended
Aerated to decanter 90 minutes, served non-blind. This variety, for me, is so well suited to a wide variety of foods, I just love it.

July 12, 2015 - Decaying, spicy nose; sweet mineral, flint and honeysuckle with a distant blast of pineapple and an aftertaste of apple sauce.

September 23, 2013 - Great & a surprise as it was even better than what i expected even though I had expectations on this thoroughbread Etna Wine based on Carricante.
Eyes: medium to long legs
Nose: Lemon and green apple opening immediatly leaving space to a pure volcanic eruption of dark mineral notes. Really persistent and closing with rounder, sweeter note of mature apple.
Mouth: Medium high acidity promising a good development in years and still weel integrate.
This 2007 is still a young baby, beautiful and promising a nice evolution. Will wait at least one year before opening my second bottle... as for the third... I'll try to forget it in my cellar for a while2 people found this helpful Comment -

August 4, 2013 - This may be the best Sicilian white I have tasted so far. Lemon, citrus, apricots, quince, quite light on its feet. Really good.
