  June 26, 2011 - (14.39%) Nice earthy, forest floor on a brooding, dark fruity nose. Round red cherries with clove and cedar box here. This one sees 50% new (French) oak and it definitely comes through nicely with the roundness on the palate and vanilla, creaminess along with sweet tobacco on a warm, lingering finish. A rare example of oak done right (IMHO) this one has enough acidity to keep the wine in balance. Very nice on its own and a perfect match for steak. 225 cases made
  
  Geek notes: Interesting note from the winery (via twitter) who shared that this one is 50% Pommard 5 clone - earth, spice, mushroom, structure and 50% Dijon 115, 777 - forward darker fruits. Thought this shed some good light on the blending philosophy…
