January 9, 2014 - Very dry / seems to have list it's fruit

  • pjaines Does not like this wine:

December 1, 2013 - Thin, green and basically not even tasting like pinot. And I like my pinot lean.....this is poor.
edit: 5 hours later this has had time to open up - now this is at least lean and pinot-based! Ok.....very structure driven,...
Another edit: no ...this is really opening up into quite a decent wine......nevertheless you would still need to be a fan of austerity to like this...although it does have a touch of sweet fruit on the finish.

October 26, 2013 - A nice ruby coloring when poured. A hint of burgundian funk that passed quickly. Flavors of cherry, raspberry and a hint of a cranberry along with a mineral note. The tannins have dropped but not faded completely. Improved after breathing for about 1 hr. Probably still a bit on the young side!

November 13, 2011 - Ok nose, with cherry, cranberry, and a certain rustiness. On taste starts out with tannins up front and a very bitter finish. Not what I expect from a ripe 09 vintage. A pass on this.
Unbalanced in the end and the bitterness is not refreshing just unpleasant.

October 24, 2011 - (Bought at K&L and drunk within a week.) 2009 has been very good to this level of wine. Tried the 2008 at a K&L tasting and wasn't all that impressed. Saw the 2009 in the store and thought I'd give it a try. Very happy with it and really one of the better sub $20 Pinots I've had. Very bright red red red fruit, with just a hint of an edge. Some tannins on the back, but really just enough to balance out the somewhat thin middle. This wine is all about the fruit. Very fun and would buy again.
