November 20, 2021 - 100% Mencia. 13.5% ABV
Decanted 90 minutes before drinking.
Color: very dark red to black. Viscous legs
Nose: medium to full intensity. Closed in to start... opened over several hours. Complex dark fruits with vanilla notes. Evolved in the glass
Body/flavor: full body. Complex rich flavors of berries, dust, and warm spice. Continued to open to the last drop!
Aftertaste: lingering. Great finish
My only bottle! :( Has time -

June 3, 2010 - Extremely vegetal, green peppers, stalky, rustic to the point of absurdity. I've had this bottling before and thought it was a very good Mencia. I'm going to chalk this one up to bottle variation or perhaps it being in a dumb phase. Hence I can not give a fair rating.
Note, the structure was very good, a solid acidic backbone to go with the (somewhat harsh) tannins. I have half the bottle left and will revisit tomorrow. Hopefully some of the fruit will shine thru with 24 hours of air.
