    November 28, 2023 - Almost couldn't drink it. And I didn't.
Got sick and the missus finished it over two days. Will check to see what she thought.

September 5, 2017 - Tuesday Night Double Blind <$40 (Bin 75 Alpharetta, GA): Dark core with cloudy rim; sweet oaky dark fruit, sweet and roasted, cedar; lower acid, dense, older, some high toned mineral, oaky finish, chocolate and fruit.

December 29, 2016 - Christmas Dinner (Novi, MI): Holiday celebration at parents. Drank blind with 3 other wines.
    Showed more fruit than expected.
One 1st place vote. Group #3 of 4.

November 6, 2016 - This took some time to open up and for the tannins to smooth out.
Red fruit, spice, earth, moderate acidity. Rich compared to most Italian wines, but still not rich and plush enough for our palates.
Decent length on the finish, but not too much complexity.

June 20, 2016 - Clear, deep ruby, with thick dark legs. Clean, medium (+) to pronounced nose of ripe black cherry, ripe blueberry, dried plums, lavender, dried herbs, baking spices, dark chocolate and vanilla. The nose is developing. The palate is dry but very fruit-forward and consistent with the nose. This is a hedonistic, jammy, New World style wine, yet it manages to remain "harmonious," with medium acidity and medium tannins. The alcohol is high at 14.5%, but does appears to be particularly hot on the palate. This full-bodied wine has a plush, velvety mouthfeel with a long, smooth, pleasantly bitter finish of black licorice. It is still drinking very well, and appears to have evolved only incrementally in the last four years. Although it is at or close to its peak, it certainly has the potential to develop gracefully for a few more years. It is very good by itself, but it also pairs well with a wide range of foods thanks to its complex appeal. This is consistently the best Nero D' Avola I've had the pleasure of trying.
