June 22, 2017 - Dinner and Wine in Spring Lake w Bob M (Spring Lake, NJ): From Bob's cellar, nice to try an nicely aged PNV wine. Splash decanted and drank over the course of the evening.

Dark, inky purple color, fair amount of sediment. Big nose of dark berries, oak and earth. Rich palate of dark berries, blackberry, vanilla oak, spice. A little heat on the back palate. Rich finish.

Classic CA Cab, the style at the time was a bit more "full throttle". As this style ages the heat is coming through more as the fruit is maturing. Still very nice, Staglin wines for me are consistently good. I think this is best to drink over next few years.
