Community Tasting Notes 5

May 2, 2013 - I think this is a very tasty Cabernet. It might be a little on the chunky, flabby side, but there is no ignoring the really lush fruit flavors. True, this is over five years off the vine, and four or so years in the bottle, and may have been a little hefty upon release. There are several good things to mention. The nose and flavor profile is that of those clones of Cabernet that taste naturally of eucalyptus. There is the flavor of 2 types of cherry, both maraschino, and black cherry. And, the oak program has helped the grapes produce a really nice dark chocolate flavor. Rich dark color. Now well integrated. Still some dusty nice tannins. Almost full bodied. Some menthol and eucalyptus with what is almost a cherry preserves on the roof of the mouth finish.

March 4, 2012 - Smooth, easy drinking. A little bit heavy on the fruit, easy on the tannins. Would be a good basic wine to provide for a diverse group of people as it will not offend anyone.

April 13, 2011 - Medium ruby in color, medium weight. Not much on the nose - red fruit. Red berries and vanilla on the palate. Simple, drinkable and $10 at the state monopoly store.

February 5, 2011 - Tasted at 2nd Annual NYC Winter Wine Festival @ Best Buy Theater in Times Square, NYC. Dark berry & coffee notes w/solid tannins & moderately long finish.

December 2, 2010 - Much better than the 2006 which was a decent cabernet. I have tried a few 2007 cabs and this one is the most ready to drink but can definitely age a few years. Much of the fruit is Alexander Valley. Blackberry, coffee, good tannins, long finish. 15$.
