December 31, 2022 - Extremely concentrated with a core of kirsch - and actually just as I remember this cuvée. Still youngish with loads of primary fruit, the punters will love this, it's a true powerbank - just not as complex as all that, there is - after all - a limit to this terroir.

August 5, 2015 - Second time trying, I again like this wine, but it's not a stink bomb like the last bottle.

April 9, 2015 - 2009 Persia has a stinky nose like its older siblings, 2005 and 2006. Cow manure, horse manure, and some other species’ manure notes are just brilliant on the nose. Don’t be afraid to taste it. Either I’m not tasting manure or I don’t know what manure tastes like, but there are some nice dark fruits, pepper, beef jerky, and roasted herbs on the palate. It is deceptively medium bodied with well polished tannins although it’s packed with a lot of wine. As this beautiful Cotes du Ventoux blossoms with aeration, it becomes fuller in body. There is no sharp acidity here, so you can drink this on its own. It is well balanced.
I’m not sure if the stinkiness is fading over time, or if I’m getting used to the smell. Having tried two prior vintages, 2005 and 2006 about 5 years ago, which I also found to be quite stinky, I’m having a pretty consistent experience from this producer. I love it.

January 2, 2015 - This bottle was better both days from my last bottle; liked the meatiness the syrah showed; but nowhere close to the 93 points Jeb Dunnick (or others) gave it.

December 26, 2014 - 2 years from the last bottle and DAMN! Very nice. Juicy, meaty, earthy, gamey, sexy. 91
