May 3, 2024 - No bricking garnet. Red tangy fruits on the nose and palate. Ripe fruit nose and tart palate. Dried herbs, asparagus, mushrooms and compost on the mature palate. Low tannins, medium plus acidity ,and low alcohol. Oddly refreshing.

September 18, 2018 - Opened 3 hours before serving and elected not to decant. This wine has really developed since my last note 6 years ago. Now with both primary and secondary notes on the expressive nose (cherries, strawberry, dried leaves, earth, floral notes and flint). Palate has a underlying creamy, light fruit painted with lifting acidity, mineral and light, but firm tannins. Served with seared opah and saffron risotto too great effect. Everyone kept returning to the bottle for more sniffs and sips as the wine slowly evolved. Now ready and should last; decant optional.

September 2, 2017 - Perhaps suitable as tractor fuel ...or for deglazing pans. The notion that this wine may claim the appelation "beaune" is ...simply... astonishing.

May 30, 2014 - Wine decanted for 12 hours prior to drinking on Day 1.

Color: Clear light ruby red. Still looks fairly young and compared the the 1999 Beaune this appears to be a medium body wine. (the 99 is much more deeply colored)

Nose: Leather, earth with nice floral compounds. Somewhat reminds me of a pommard but more earthy. Nice showing now on the smell.

Taste on Day 1: Very nice and very precise beaune flavors. Medium body feel in the mouth with a moderately complex finish with good acidity that is well integrated but is definitely noticeable on this wine. A very pure and classic wine for a classic vintage but this lacks the stiffing of the 1999 vintage and is a lighter weight version. I really like the lingering minerals and flavor coming through with a laser like focus on this 2001. The only this missing is more depth and weight so in this regard the 99 is superior But this wine is drinking better today and has a refined and very detailed feel. This 01 drinks with clean, pure middle weight flavors that tantalize the taste buds. I would score this today 90+ points and it will be interesting to see how this evolves in the next 24 hours.

Taste on Day 2: A bit more rounder and less acidic but otherwise very similar to the previous day. For those who prefer classic burgundy with a light touch as this is the opposite of a big fruit bomb and reflects the elegant 2001 vintage. A nice drinker.

November 20, 2012 - Decanted 2 hours without much effect. Translucent garnet. Bright red berries and dust on nose; quite primary and fresh. Light red fruit on palate met by expressive acidity that turns tart by midpalate. Tense, light mineral, no secondary flavors to speak of. Followed previous CT note and paired with seared tuna with roasted scallops and tangerine cream sauce - this balanced out the acidity and with the light fruit it performed much like a white wine. I think this has many years to go.
