December 31, 2017 - 2018 New Year Holiday in Marlborough / Nelson; 12/31/2017-1/5/2018 (Blenheim / Nelson): ruby with brick edge. Still fresh berries, bright acidity, super smooth texture, soft, silky tannins. Medium finish with moderate vanilla, sweet herbals notes. I’m captivated by the elegance of this ten-year-old Pinot noir.

    Ap 5/5, Ar 12/15, Palate 17/20, Overall 3+3/10
    Total 90/100

June 21, 2016 - An almost ageless wine through its first 8 years. Dark for a Pinot but not black. Firmly acidic and tannic, with a smooth and delicious top layer of pomegranate and black and red cherry fruit. A good ringer for a Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir from California.

May 1, 2016 - More robust wine, great nose (deeper) fuller body, some heft

April 1, 2015 - At around $20, Wither Hills is a fine benchmark for New Zealand Pinot Noirs, meaning that many more expensive ones are not as good, and the ones below it in cost tend to lack its quality. This wine always improves significantly after being opened, here taking about 2 days to get really good. Dark ruby in color. Deep black cherry flavor. Bright, energetic, mouth filling, and long lasting after swallowing.
