July 16, 2023 - Opened and slow o for three hours. Then decanted out of magnum and had over 3 hours in a Zalto Burgundy glass.
Showing beautifully. No real bricking yet, just starting to fade to a paler cranberry garnet color in the glass.
The nose is immediately effusive, while being so composed that it takes a moment to tease out all of the details.
From the first sip to the last, this wine was singing. Classic Willamette Valley expression of Pinot. 2008’s dark and rich cherries are still front and center, but the acid and tannins have become a seamless conveyor belt for the long presentation of supporting flavors. All of the primary flavors are there, but relaxed- as if they’re finally mature enough to use their “inside voice.”
That said, there is still a long upside, the tertiary flavors, the umami and mushroom, were just beginning to show and add extra dimensionality to this wine.
A real treat to share. Drink now or hold depending on which section of the ride you’re after.1 person found this helpful Comment -

June 16, 2018 - Drinking beautifully at ten years with a good 5-10 more to go. Dense and fragrant with dark cherry, cedar and cola notes, this wine has weight, depth and elegance, and a long long finish.

September 30, 2017 - PNP but allowed over an hour in the glass before drinking. Consumed over two hours. This bottle had a great deal more earth and funk upon opening, giving way to the fruit and spices after about an hour. Over time the wine continued to evolve and gain complexity--with baking spices and red berries mixing in with the barnyard and earth. Lingering finish. I think this wine has a couple years to keep evolving.

June 18, 2017 - PnP and consumed slowly over three hours. Aroma of strawberry and candied cherry. Deep concentrated flavors. Dark berry, baking spices, a tiny touch of earthiness. A long lingering finish. It continued to evolve through the evening. Really an impressive wine--and one that likely has at least a few more years to go.

November 27, 2016 - Popped and poured, then tasted and re-tasting multiple times over the next 4+ hours. Very good concentration start-to-finish. Started with very ripe black and blue berries, still oaky with robust floral and spice notes. Oak and ripeness softened with more time in glass, giving a more balanced impression. Well made, with the ability to age and evolve nicely from here.
