Community Tasting Notes 8

November 13, 2011 - Doesn't do it for me. Had the first bottle and didn't like it much but held off on reviewing it since the reviews here are mainly good. Thought maybe I had a bad bottle. This is my second and final bottle (and that's just fine). Certainly some alcohol along with a little cherry on the nose. The taste was that of "generic" wine. In other words it didn't taste like any one varietal and didn't have too many different subtleties that I could pick out. It was just... wine. It didn't offend me, but I wasn't wowed in any way whatsoever. On the palate again some cherry, but also some bitter/tartness on the back end. The length is below average. Pass.

August 1, 2011 - Opened the bottle and let it set for 45 minutes, and it was fantastic!!! Dark ruby red color. Bouquet showed rich cherries, black currant and plum. Palate was fruit forward, heavy on the cherries with a little vanilla. Very soft finish and a great stand alone wine. You can't do better for under $10.00 a bottle.

July 17, 2011 - Drank out of the bottle - no aeration or decanting. You can definitely smell the alcohol in this one...almost the only scent coming through on the nose. The one taste that stands out is cedar. Interesting aftertaste that I have not been able to nail down.

May 7, 2011 - Awesome! Great stand-alone wine, but also pairs well with red meat. Strong fruity taste. VERY smooth.
