Community Tasting Notes 2

February 24, 2022 - This was a total mess. Completely maderized, oxidized whatever. Undrinkable and almost unsmellable. Down the drain

April 11, 2013 - I am not sure it has to do with the vintage or in this case the varietals in this blend of Bourboulenc, Roussanne and Grenache Blanc. But the nose of the 2009 Les Gallimardes Blanc is so full of mature sweet red apples I am quite taken aback. You could also say the nose offers up signs of oxidation. A nicer way of putting it would be to say typical "Champagne nose". In previous tastings I have found the same tones of apples in the 2009 reds from this producer(!). Apart from the apples there are plenty of wild flowers and a subtle tone of nutmeg to be found in the nose. The palate is integrated and has a nice viscosity which is very typical for CndP whites. I completely adore the mouthfeel of the wine - it is like liquid transluscent velvet. Super! The acidity is quite nice and the length on the finish lasts some 30 seconds. Despite the red apples this is a nice wine, which is certainly worth exploring if given the chance. (score is 91+)
