Community Tasting Notes 7

May 31, 2012 - I appreciate this wine however on the first night, it is a little too high in tannins. The nose is quite wonderful for a $13 btl but on the palate, I find the tannins too high. If it doesn't improve on night 2, I will not repeat (by the way, I also decanted). Nose has all the right qualities - pepper (not sure if it's black or white :) ), leather, a bit of minerality, some alcohol. In short, the nose is my kind of wine; not the palate. It needs to be a lot softer

2nd night, not much better on the tannin front. Will not repeat

November 15, 2011 - Patricia Wells has guided a delicious wine for sure. My problem is that it had to be. This is the self-fulfilling prophecy of modern wine. We increasingly squeeze grapes into what we expect good wine to taste like; removing stalks, gentle extraction, aging on lees, in casks for a year, et cetera. I love this wine. But I worry that I already had to.

October 4, 2011 - Tasty, fresh, all there. Works at $16. Herby and tense.

August 21, 2011 - Popped and poured. Medium bodied with with some complexity. Seems to be evolving.
