May 15, 2014 - Garnet ruby, medium viscosity and noticeable sediment in the glass. Nose of bramble, oak, black fruit, smoke and camphor. Medium body and spicy with sultry black fruit, oak, pepper, smoke and raspberry on the palate. Good framework with some tight, green grip. Medium finish. Needs another five years 88+

March 5, 2013 - The other notes pretty well cover the flavor profile. I do think the wine is in its sweet spot now and though there are sufficient tannins to maintain it a few more years, the fruit is already quite restrained and the fruit/tannin interplay is well balanced. As is the prominent wood element. Not a fan of the green angles, making me lean towards an 89, but wifey thought it was a 91, so here we are...
