Community Tasting Notes 10

January 26, 2023 - bit alcoholic and lacking layers. Not a good representation of '01.

March 7, 2021 - Dujac tasting with Jeremy & Diana (Zoom): Prior to the addition of old vine plots in 05 and from relatively young vines planted in 1987. Just above Arnoux's Suchots. Spice filled black cherry aromas. Very Vosne with so much spice if a little lean at this point. Time to drink up.

March 7, 2021 - Dujac Tasting with Jeremy and Diana (Chicago, IL and Nuits-Saint-Georges, France): Apparently not a wine originally exported to the US. More earthy than spicy, but certainly there are wisps of the Dujac perfume here. The palate has more density that the 2001 villages wines, and shows a nice amount of drying red fruit (all the 2001s today did taste like they were related). Good red fruit flavours, though they are starting to dry out. The acidity and structure should give good bottles of this some life yet. A little coarse on the finish.

    March 7, 2021 - Served in a JRxRB Universal. Fruit / 1028 hPa

Clear ruby red. Looking pretty youthful for a wine approaching 20. Bright balaton and bing cherries upfront, with some earthy oak forest and chaga tea. A touch of star anise, and with time, signature Dujac spice. The vintage and site are on full display on the palate. It's quite light and nuanced, while still maintaining complexity thanks to age. I'd be inclined to say this has quite a few years to go and it significantly benefitted from air, but hard to say given the lightness. Delicious now nonetheless.

March 7, 2021 - Domaine Dujac Zoom Tasting with Jeremy and Diana (Planet Earth): Earthy with lingering red cherry and berry and good depth. Ever-so-slightly dirty, but in both good and bad ways. Enjoyable, but not quite up to expectations for the vintage from this great producer.
