January 14, 2011 - Consistent with previous notes. This is just a beautiful expression of fresh fruit in a mouthwatering vibrantly acidic package. Label indicates 14.5% alcohol, but finishes light and fresh without a trace of alcoholic heat. This is an extremely versatile food wine - consider as a replacement for a new-world Pinot Noir with a very different flavor profile.

December 21, 2010 - Apparently this is 100% Carignan. First impression on the nose brings to mind Beaujolais - ripe grapey fruit along with violets and other floral aromas. But it's a totally different wine in the mouth, with dark plums and deep undertones of licorice and spice. After some air time, it's showing sour cherries and baking-spice aromas. All the while it remains light and fresh. Significant tannins are hidden so discretely as to be barely noticeable. Blockbuster-seekers should probably look elsewhere, but this is a terrific food-friendly terroir-driven wine.
