April 28, 2024 - ABV: 10.5%. Don't think I've ever had this varietal, but I'm completely sold. The nose is a melange of apricot, guava, and citrus rind mixed with a hint of minerality and white pepper. The viscosity on the palate is kind of like a cross between a well-aged Sauternes and an Auslese Riesling, with a gush of ripe, juicy fruits that's lifted by the well-integrated acidity. The finish leaves you salivating. At approximately 15-years-old, this wine is drinking well now, but I'd say to hold on to it until at least the 20-year mark (2029) for the acid and sugar to integrate further. This wine can and will easily age well-beyond 40 years.

April 8, 2017 - Takes one hour to Show its best. Sweet, fruity and not heavy in spite of 10,5% alc.. Lovely wine that will Keep for another 3-4 years easily. But it won´t improve, I´m afraid.

February 1, 2011 - Exotic, yet never vulgar. For all of its tropical Rieslaner notes and residual sugar, this retained good balance and poise. This had a hint of the "creamy" character that I detected in many 2007 German Rieslings.

(Minges Burrweiler Schlossgarten Rieslaner Spätlese) ($29.00) A rarity in ’09, and a shatteringly good wine in every sense, Rieslaner at its most exotic and implacable; salty banana candy but with mentholated high notes you cut with a knife, and the wine is the knife.
