May 21, 2023 - At home with Val and Jimmy, paired with my classic pot roast and roasted potatoes, thought I would give this another shot. PnP, drank over an hour. Great pairing and meaningfully better than prior bottles

Dark garnet color. Nose showing cherry, vanilla. Palate showing dark cherry, red fruits, leather, balsamic. Fruit is bright and high toned through the mid palate. Medium weight and finish.

This was really enjoyable on this showing - prior bottles were very average. I assume it's just come together with age? In any event, this has evolved into a very enjoyable Rioja at this point. Only one bottle left...

January 11, 2023 - Quite lovely great ballace and freshness. At a great point now but might last a few more years. Drink it if you got it !

July 30, 2022 - Still deep ruby. Plenty of vanilla and black fruits on the nose. Touch of blackberry, plenty red currant, some cherry. A definite strong lick of oak still. Though mouthfeel is smooth enough. Good acidity. Clean finish. Very decent bottle at a modest cost a while ago.

March 28, 2021 - I don’t have rioja very often, so not a good judge of them. I aired for about 30 min, in Reidel Bordeaux glass, and it wasn’t very interesting until I ate the paella. It was a perfect compliment to it, but on its own, I am iffy on it. Best at one hour and after 1.5 started to fade.

February 10, 2021 - Improving with bottle aging. Still strong fruit, but the structure and balance are what distinguishes the wine from others. Easily has a couple of years left before it begins to deteriorate.

(Bodegas LAN Rioja Gran Reserva) Very dark ruby color; cedar, black currant, dried black fruit nose with a sense of menthol; tasty, tart currant, dill, dried red fruit, cedar palate; should go 15-20 years; medium-plus finish (85% Tempranillo, 15% Mazuelo; mixed American & French oak barrels for 24 mos, 36 mos in bottle)
