Community Tasting Notes 1

September 11, 2023 - Slightly murky dark gold in colour. Lots of sediment when I decanted, and a haze hanging about in the glass in a way that strikes me as ominous. The nose is attractive though: sweet nuttiness. The palate is a delight: lip-smackingly sweet, with perfect acidity to balance, and notions of golden sultanas and caramelised almonds. The back label says, 'Matured in wood / Bottled in 1994 / Port is a natural wine thus subject to throw a deposit.' ('Natural wine' meant something else in 1994!) So, bottled after 17 years and resting in bottle for 29 - and the end result is absolutely delicious. 20%, short cork.
