September 14, 2017 - Grapefruit, citrus, honey. Slight sweetness.

January 23, 2016 - Used this wine at party where people are not wine enthusiasts and it went over very well. When we tasted it to make sure it was still good, it had aromas of honey and a slight petrol. On the mouth it had stone fruit, minerals, very slight sweetness and medium bodied finish. The bottle has been properly cellared and has held up well.

October 23, 2011 - This wine is quite sweet. Nice flavors and went real well with the sauerkraut and corned beef that we had with it. Very fruity which probably made it taste sweeter than it really was.

August 22, 2011 - Pretty much the same as last time, which would ordinarily not merit a new note. However, having tasted it side by side with the 2009 Monchhof Estate Riesling, I can't help but comment on the differences between this relatively low priced ($12.49), no name Riesling vs. the budget entry from one of the better estates in Germany. The Hosmer wins hands down and, while it's good, it isn't even their best effort. Focus, clarity, and structure is what Hosmer's wines are all about, and this specimen is no exception. Certainly the wines don't offer the complexity you find in the varsity squad from the good German estates, but they don't sell for $25 and up either.

July 5, 2011 - Fragrant aroma of honey and grass. Forward flavors of lime, stone fruit and minerals, with a surprisingly tart finish. Delicious, though a little staid and a little simple, at least for now - it's worth waiting to see how this evolves. At just over $12, an outstanding value as always.

This year's vintage has a cheesy back label (e.g. "layered with beguiling aromas of white clover, buckwheat fields and sun ripened apricots") which is new. It also has a synthetic cork, which is not new, though this year it is made to look like natural cork, as opposed to past years where it was black plastic. Considering they are selling a riesling for $12 that is much better than many that are twice the price, I guess I'm okay with anything they do that will help them in the marketplace - I'm just not sure this is it. And (not that my input is likely to help anyone sell wine) why not a screwcap? If it's good enough for Willi Schaefer, it should be good enough for anyone.
