December 24, 2020 - A disappointment. I drank a bottle in 2011 and it was really good ….. waited too long for the 2nd bottle though. It is showing its age a bit with maybe a smidge of oxidation. Colour is garnet with browning.
Aromas are heavy with tar, and caramel, dried berry fruit, baking spices and dried herbs. Heavier on that caramel though. Same with the overall flavour. A bit thick feel on the mouth. Flavours sound better then they present.

March 16, 2016 - 3 Non-B&B Nebbiolos and some others from the Boot (Jeff K's): An interesting take on Nebbiolo. This is apparently made by first drying the grapes out on wooden mats (a la Amarone). Once Jeff pointed that out, it made a bit more sense. Ruby/purple in color. The nose has dried cherries, cherries, raisins, and a slight liqueur note. I liked it better on the palate. nice complexity. Sweet cherry flavors. Long finish. Interesting wine. Seems like it is still reasonably young but I would not call it fresh either. Seemed to keep improving all night.

    September 6, 2015 - tasted blind
    nose - raisin
mouth - porty yet dry, raisiny wine, slightly tired. i guessed an old amarone

August 14, 2015 - Slow to open, followed by smoky almost bbq notes, spicy, with a deep and fairly alcoholic finish. After 30 minutes had still not "given up" much of the nebbiolo length and profile, but after an hour the raisin-y aspect faded and it started to show a long and slighty tar-spice finish. Wonder what it would be like in 5 years...

October 9, 2013 - Color is quite light which I wouldn't expect from a Sforzato. Nose is really BIG -- with dark sweet fruits and a significant spice note. Palate is rich and rounded and chewy -- seems like a cousin to an amarone almost. There is a tobacco and smoke component as well. Acidity is modest, but eventually a significant hit of tannin that says "I'm a big nebbiolo -- take me seriously". A very pleasing drink.
