August 16, 2023 - {screwcap, 13%} Deep yellow, verging on gold. Rockmelon and lanolin nose. Squash aromas. But nicer than vegetables! Medium weight palate, yellowing fruit, slightly greasy texture although the acidity cuts through at the end. Always dry. Nicely mature, medium/long finish. Will hold, may still evolve. Another five years won’t hurt; good effort from a cheap wine already twenty years old.

January 8, 2022 - Again Drinking Trees has captured the experience perfectly. This could develop into a superb drop if it added a bit more palate weight. The lanolin, honey, apricot and almond flavours are there, but not pronounced like the really good bottles I’ve had (‘96, ‘98 & ‘00) at a similar age. Still those were under cork and this was under Stelvin, so maybe it just needs more time.

April 23, 2021 - Dark yellow colour. Nose of lemon verbena, river stones, and a hint of sweat. Mouthfeel initially seems a bit light and empty, but the mid-palate brings touches of honey and oil. Mild flavours of honey, lemon, and thyme.

June 16, 2019 - {screwcap, 13%} Deep golden hollow colour, but still bright and clear. Rich nose of lanolin and white flesh fruit. Vanilla bean too. But not oak-derived. The palate is medium/full-bodied, with low-medium acidity, and an aged patina to the yellowing flavours. A bit of a hole in the mid-palate I think, but then this wine was all of $10 on release 15 years ago, so you really couldn’t complain as far as value goes. Will hold, but not to any benefit.

August 30, 2016 - {screwcap, 13%} Deep yellow, but still with green flashes visible. Huge, intense nose upon opening, with lemon, wax, nougat, machine oil. Well past its youth, but not quite so aged as the colour might suggest. Rich and ripe. The palate is medium/full-bodied in the context of an unoaked white; the acidity is a little low for ultimate freshness. The flavours flit here and there; there's a lemony underpinning I don't often see with this label. It's a bit light for presence beyond the mid-palate, but I'm applying a very high standard to what was a $10 wine on release. On this tasting, will last - even improve - for another 4-5 years, and hold beyond that. Excellent example of the label.
